GMC Revalidation Guidance
The new GMC Revalidation guidance for the colleague and patient feedback
component of revalidation is out.
The GMC Revalidation guidance has adopted CFEP’s tried and tested
processes used during our 5 year partnership with the Peninsula Medical School
in Exeter during the study into the use of the GMC questionnaires. As the
chosen survey organisation
for the GMC evaluation into surveys for use in revalidation we have exclusive
experience in the administration, process and reporting of the GMC tools
including the provision of robust benchmarks - having provided feedback to more
than 1,500 doctors using these questionnaires.
Although the use of the GMC’s questionnaires is not mandatory, doctors who use a
different feedback tool must ensure it meets GMC standards.
CFEP is in the enviable position of being able to offer a choice of 2 colleague
and patient feedback tools meeting these requirements: the GMC tool and our own
CFEP360 tool - which has been providing feedback to doctors for over 7 years.

CFEP’s MSF survey tool enables valuable insight into specific interpersonal skill areas such as communication skills, and has been found particularly helpful for appraisal.
Revalidation is a hot topic in the healthcare sector. As an approved supplier to the General Medical Council (GMC), we are working with our research partner Peninsula Medical School to further investigate the properties and potential of the GMC MSF patient and colleague tools for possible use in Revalidation of UK doctors.
