Care Quality Commission (CQC)

The CQC now requires all dental providers to be registered with them by April 2011, after which they will come under their compliance monitoring system.

‘All [dental] providers must be registered with us by 1 April 2011 in order to continue to legally carry on any of the regulated activities.

From April 2011 onwards, the dental sector will then come under our compliance monitoring system.

Having registered providers, we will then constantly monitor services to ensure they meet essential standards of quality and safety’.

CQC Guidance for Professionals - How will the Process Work

Our surveys can capture useful and relevant information from service users of dental providers to inform the CQC to ensure essential standards of quality and safety are met. Our surveys are reliable and sensitive enough to allow for particular aspects of care to be monitored and reports will allow areas where further development may be necessary or areas of excellence to be immediately pinpointed. In addition, if carried out on more than one occasion the surveys will illustrate any change in the quality of the care you provide.

A guide to the CQC’s registration for dental practices can be found in the download section on the right of this page.

Guidance for compliance can be found on the CQC website.
